Man, this is what work should feel like. You get up really early (ok maybe not that), grab your camera and a pin-stripe suit from Oscar de la Renta, and dash out into the world.
Swing by Starbucks, get your liquid crack, then notice the odd couple at the table outside. Take their picture without permission, then continue hanging out with your friends/clients, shooting away and catching the smiles. Smiles you were getting only between shots when you first started, but are a sure thing now.
Man, I love this job! Couples like Ping and Nic remind me why...
I've had a lens and a flashing light in front of this girl for a whole day at Wedding 1.0 (see previous blog post by the acclaimed Rob) and I'm back for round 2. Only THIS time, we're starting 4 hours earlier than last time.... now, you would think Ping would be grumpy.... on the contrary... All smiles!
Being able to attend a Chinese wedding was a gift in my eyes, since its a very intimate ceremony, with only the most important individuals present. I was in! I was family! For a couple hours, I felt like just another uncle, cousin, friend stopping by. It was splendid. We headed over to the capital for some shots against the polished granite walls, then it was party time!!!
OK, I know, I've been slacking on posts, and you want to see some pictures.... I'll post a bunch for everyone. A dear friend of mine used her photos for her myspace and was kind enough to add our website to each description... Mishell, you rock! I wanted Ping to have the option to actually add a description, so I added a little strip on the photos, I hope its not too distracting!
This was a huge reception.... with over 800 guests in two separate rooms!
This last one says it all...
I had a blast shooting their wedding(s), and I hope some of the 8-8-08 luck rubs off on me! I cant wait for Ping and Nic to come back from their Florida honeymoon so I can show them their pictures. I'm sure that seeing her smiling face again and sharing some laughs as we look through her days will once again remind me that this is exactly what work should feel like.
